John Kerry, too electable!

Why didn't John Kerry do better with the democrats? Simple he was too electable. During the primaries so many democrats were heard to say that the most important characteristic of a candidate was electability. Thus Howard Dean, Dennis Kucinich, and others were cast aside for the middle of the road "yes man", John Kerry.

The overbilled early caucuses are simply flawed, as conservative middle american voters adapt a least-worst strategy to determine future election outcomes. Yet as is now all too obvious, the least worst strategy is no longer a viable political force.

Rather than searching for "least worst" candidates the democratic party should be searching for candidates that inspire a movement of voters. Even George W. Bush has proved that it is okay for a candidate to make a fool of themselves occasionally as long as they do it with the courage of their convictions.

While Kerry appears imaculate on the surface, this venere gives him an aura of oily political indecisiveness.

Rather than inspire voters to take a stand along with him, Kerry tried to differentiate himself from Bush by essentially arguing that he was smarter and more presidential than Bush. Yet, ultimately such an argument merely presents an opposition to Bush's personality and not his politics.

Any viable political candiate must make arguments on political grounds. There may be those who agree that Kerry seems more intelligent than Bush, nevertheless most of the country prefers Bush's seemingly plain spoken nature.

Kerry picked the wrong battle. The battle of public persona and he lost to an ignorant, arrogant, Texan with little charm or charisma.
