Lucretius - c. 94 - 55 BCE - Lucretius was a philosopher
poet who based his work on traditional Greek styles of philosophical
poetry. Lucretius was noted for his work, On the Nature of the
Universe, which was said to have contributed to a revival of
Epicurial thought in Rome between 60 and 40 BCE. On
the Nature of the Universe proported to outline the origin of the
universe poetically, namely that the universe was created in a random
arrangement of atoms, a twist of fate as it were.
